FROM THE EDITOR

Farewell, NAPFA, and Welcome, New Columnists!

By Susan Weiner

NAPFA will work with a new editing team, starting with the February 2024 issue, which makes this the last NAPFA Advisor magazine that I’ll edit from start to finish. I’ve enjoyed editing the Advisor since October 2016. It has been an honor to support Fee-Only advisors and a joy to meet and work with so many of you.

If you’d like to stay in touch, or you’d like some writing tips, please visit my Investment Writing blog.

I’ll be cheering NAPFA and the new editorial team from the sidelines. Good luck to all of you!

New Columnists from Our Membership

It’s always sad to say farewell to columnists departing from the NAPFA Advisor, but we’re delighted with our 2024 line-up of new and returning columnists.

The magazine’s “Practical Observations” column highlights the insights of NAPFA members. This year, we begin with “Finding the Right Path: Why Going Solo Isn’t Always the Right Answer from new columnist Ryan Derousseau.

Our other new “Practical Observations” columnists are Cassandra Smalley, Amy Irvine (who contributed “Incorporating education into your financial planning” in 2021), and Lauren Lindsay. Returning columnists are Lydia Sheckels and Yonhee Choi Gordon.

“Coach’s Corner” Columnists

Charesse Spiller is new as a “Coach’s Corner” columnist, but she already has multiple articles in the magazine to her credit. I especially enjoyed “Can Financial Advisors Use One-Time Financial Plans to Grow Their Business?

Returning columnists are Michelle Donovan, Arlene Moss, and Jody Jacobson.

Super-Contributor Linda Leitz

Linda Leitz has been a regular columnist for the magazine since 2016 in different capacities. We appreciate all that she does for the magazine—and for the profession of financial planning as she currently serves on CFP Board.
