Work Zone Safety
April 10, 2018, noon EST
National Work Zone Awareness Week is April 9-13. To commemorate it, NAWIC will bring you a work zone safety overview. Everyone drives through work zones and some of us even work in them, so it pays to pay attention to work zone safety. In this webinar, you will learn about the safety measures you can take and rules you can follow to keep everyone safe in work zones. Complimentary for NAWIC members. For more information on the seminar, click here.

Take the NAWIC Diversity Survey
In planning our education for the August NAWIC Annual Conference, we are developing a panel on Diversity in the Construction Industry. Your feedback on what your company is doing will help inform the conversation of the panel. We have asked 9 questions that will take about 1 minute to complete. To take the survey, click here.

Ask Your Boss to Help You Attend the 2018 Annual Conference
Now is the time to talk to your employer about attending the 2018 Annual Conference. Catherine Schoenenberger, NAWIC’s 2017-2018 President, has written a letter that members can pass on to their employer. It outlines the many reasons that they should send their female employees to the 2018 NAWIC Annual Conference. Click here to download a copy of the letter.

Industry Update

On Feb. 12, President Trump revealed information on his infrastructure bill. The 55-page outline requests that Congress stimulate $1.5 trillion in new infrastructure investment over the next 10 years, of which $200 billion would come from the federal government. The rest will be financed by states, localities and public-private partnerships.

Construction employment increased in 269 out of 358 metro areas between December 2016 and December 2017, declined in 43 and stagnated in 46, according to a new analysis of federal employment data released today by the Associated General Contractors of America. Association officials said new infrastructure funding would help ensure firms continue to expand their headcount in 2018.
