From NAWIC to technology, you'll read about how the brains of construction are changing the way business is done. Kassy Morris, LEED GA, Vice President of Ventura County Chapter 129, shares her thoughts on the whole enchilada and gives readers a thought-provoking commentary on the issues facing women in construction today.
The NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF) is currently accepting applications from NAWIC members interested in serving as a Trustee or Officer on the Board. An NEF Trustee or Officer is a person who is interested in the Foundation and will serve to govern the operation of the Foundation. The position requires diligence, preparation for Board meetings and an understanding of the organization’s assets and financial position in order to make informed decisions.
Trustees serve a two-year term, which will begin at the close of the NAWIC Annual Conference in Atlanta, GA, in August 2019. NEF Trustees or Officers should be prepared to participate in the mid-year, annual and called meetings of the Board of Trustees, and be available for any conference calls as they may arise. NEF Trustees or Officers are asked to serve on committees and make a personal financial contribution to the Foundation through special events, planned giving, annual pledge or other in-kind donations. NEF Trustees or Officers are asked to participate in all fund raising and special event activities, either as a participant, volunteer or Board representative.
The deadline for all applications is Saturday, December 15, 2018. Applications should be submitted directly to one of the Nominating Committee members: Robin Fulton Meyer, CBT, CIT, Jill Hanson, CIT or Lisa Thibodeaux .
Education / Training
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a construction-related degree program at a school in the United States and must have at least one term remaining in a course of study leading to a degree or an associate degree in a construction-related field. For a construction trade scholarship, applicant must be enrolled in a construction-related training program which is approved by the Bureau of Apprenticeship Training, community college, technical school or equivalent. Applications and required documents must be submitted no later than February 28, 2019.
