Industry Update
The 6th Street Bridge team of 170 includes 15 women — the most on any commercial project in Los Angeles and nearly double the Department of Labor’s participation goal of 6.9% female crew members. The $428-million project is being constructed by Swedish construction company Skanska, in a joint venture with San Francisco-based Stacy and Witbeck. Skanska includes a senior executive team that is half women.
As 2020 approaches rapidly, professionals in the construction industry are planning for the new year. Attending trade shows and conferences is an effective way of improving knowledge and learning more about new technologies and ways of doing business. These events provide unfettered access to jobsite tours, hands-on demonstrations, networking opportunities and access to products and services promoted by exhibitors.
