Education / Training
NEF-EDU, The NAWIC Education Foundation was established in 1972 by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). NEF is an IRS 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and is governed by a Board of Trustees.
The NAWIC Education Foundation has developed several programs and competitions created to foster and promote construction as a viable career choice among students from grade school to high school level.
Additionally, the foundation has several certfications available for construction professionals, such as Construction Bookkeeping Technician and Construction Industry Specialist certifications.
NAWIC Benefits Spotlight
I just returned from an amazing conference where I connected in-person with existing colleagues and had the chance to make new connections. I hope this is also the feeling for many of you as you settle back into work after the NAWIC Conference in Charlotte. The experience was a great reminder about the power of relationships and the ways we can build those bonds.
Relationship management skills include your ability to recognize and manage your own emotions. These skills help you deal with conflict, engage with others successfully, and prevent irreparable interpersonal damage. What does this all look like and how can I become more self-aware? Starting from the perspective that emotions are data, put yourself in the role of evaluating the external data and deciding how to manage it. Here are three tips to help strengthen your relationships.
Industry Update
If you are looking for answers to the construction industry labor shortage, women can not only help you solve the problem, they very well could be the answer to it.
Seventy-two percent of Black or African-American respondents and 66% of women respondents to a National Institute of Building Sciences survey said they have experienced discrimination or prejudice while at work. People from other non-White groups also indicated encountering similar attitudes.
