_(4).jpg) In March 2022, 4.5 million workers quit their jobs and there were over 11 million open jobs. Considering the unemployment rate, it also means that about 4.5 million workers started a new job. A little digging into the data shows that the driver of the “churn” in the labor market was from professional and business services and construction. Churn is a somewhat visceral term that, for me, brings an image of turbulence and disruptiveness. It is hard to manage effectively or efficiently if a business is battered by all that noise. As a project manager, coach, and small business owner I like predictability and calm. At the same time, I can appreciate the idea that there is opportunity in chaos. Industry Update
Jacobs Engineering Group will implement a new holding company structure on Aug. 29, according to a company press release.
Associated Builders and Contractors analyzed the unemployment rate for construction, and found two states with a rock-bottom low of just 0.9% in June.
As the construction industry's labor shortage intensifies, the number of women stepping into the industry has reached an all-time high.
The number of women working in U.S. construction hit 1 million this year for the first time, and women made up a record 14.1% of the sector's workforce in July, Bloomberg reports.
