Diversity in the Workplace
Bozoma Saint John is challenging white men in the tech industry. Saint John, the African-American woman whom Uber hired last year to help carry it through tumultuous times during allegations of workplace harassment, said white men, who outnumber everyone else, have to decided to make changes if there is going to be more diversity in tech. Sonia Cargan, who has worked for American Express for more than two decades, has been promoted to Chief Diversity Officer with the company. She will be responsible for overseeing the company’s global diversity and inclusion strategy at a company in which in 2016 minorities held just 24% of executive and senior level positions in the U.S., while women made up 30%.
