According to the Minority 2018 Small Business Trends Survey, the number of black-owned small businesses in the U.S. increased by 400 percent during a one-year period between 2017 and 2018. The survey, which included more than 2,600 business owners and entrepreneurs, found that 45 percent of all small businesses in the United States are owned by minority ethnic groups in 2018. About 10,000 professionals are expected to attend the event when it returns to the city where it first convened four decades ago: Detroit.

It might surprise you to learn that the state synonymous with sunshine and orange juice is no longer the major producer of juice in the U.S. Today, more than 50 percent of all orange juice bottled by major companies like Tropicana is supplied by a Brazilian company, shipped in specialized fruit juice tankers from Sao Paulo.
