NEHES Appoints Honorary Members

The NEHES Board of Directors has appointed two new Honorary Members, Ed Browne, FASHE, CHFM, CHC, FACHE, MS and Dawn LeBaron. NEHES is proud to honor the service these two individuals have provided to NEHES over their long careers.

Over 33 years as a healthcare engineer and manager, Ed Browne’s responsibilities have included dozens of building projects, hundreds of renovation projects, and managing millions of square feet. Ed has managed facility, support service, and clinical departments in a wide variety of healthcare settings – from community hospitals to regional healthcare systems to tertiary teaching institutions including long term and chronic disease. Ed has worked on green energy projects from the ground up, balancing environmental concerns with patient needs. Ed’s specialties also include emergency preparedness, hazardous materials management, life safety, security, and environmental services.

Ed has served in a variety of capacities on the NEHES Board of Directors and in 2016 was named Engineer of the Year by NEHES. Most recently, Ed actively participated on the ASHE Sustainability Committee and led the effort to communicate the benefits of the Energy to Care program nationally to the C-Suite.

Dawn LeBaron, the University of Vermont Medical Center’s vice president of Hospital Services, has been with the UVM Medical Center for 20 years and has been at the center of many of the organization’s significant milestones – including the successful completion and opening of the Miller Building for inpatient care in 2019 and the complex and evolving response to the COVID-19 pandemic this year.

Dawn is the lead hospital administrator in charge of the teams that build and maintain the environment of care that patients experience, including facilities planning, construction, real estate development, facilities management, nutrition services, environmental services, security, parking, and environmental health & safety. She is also the administrative leader for emergency planning and response, ensuring that the organization is prepared to support the community in disasters and emergencies.

Dawn has served as the President of NEHES and VHES and was the first woman in these positions. Dawn has contributed tremendously to NEHES and has been an inspiration to all that have worked with her.

Please join NEHES in congratulating both Ed and Dawn for their service to NEHES.
