How has NEHES/ASHE contributed to your career?
I've been a member of ASHE since 2015 and NEHES since I moved to Maine in 2021. ASHE has contributed to growing my network of resources, education through seminars, webinars, and conferences, in which NEHES directly contributed to through the ASHE 2022 annual conference. Being able to directly talk to others in the industry or supporting members and vendors helps with my safety and regulatory preparedness.

What is your background in the healthcare facilities field?
I started working in healthcare in 2001 as an administrative assistant in Plant Operations/Engineering. After a few years (and falling on my background as an Engineman in the US Navy), I became a licensed Stationary Engineer. In 2015, I started working in the Fire/Life Safety field and have enjoyed learning the difference nuances of codes, regulatory requirements, and standards that differ in each field throughout my healthcare career.

Do you have a personal tidbit to share?
In my spare time I enjoy hiking and exploring the beautiful state of Maine!

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love how no two days are the same. I enjoy trouble-shooting problems and finding solutions in order to keep staff, patients, and visitors safe.
