The 2023 NE/SAE Annual Meeting will be held June 15-16 at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Uncasville, Connecticut.

NE/SAE’s Annual Meeting is the premier conference for New England association professionals and the hotels, CVBs, technology and other vendors that support them. Education sessions focus on association success stories, leadership development, marketing and communications, and networking with peers.

NE/SAE conferences are designed to engage all professional staff, not just the CEO/Executive Director. Be sure to bring your marketing, meetings, and finance staff. Sessions will provide interactive learning with colleagues who are facing the same challenges and obstacles. You'll walk away with strategies and ideas that you can implement right away.

This year's conference will be bigger and better than ever with more programming, new networking opportunities, and more! Registration is open, so get signed up today!

NE/SAE is Coming to a Spot Near You!

In April we have TWO NE/SAE in the Neighborhood gatherings. On April 14 we'll meet in Waltham, hosted by the Massachusetts Assisted Living Association. Our April 25 event will be in Hartford, hosted by the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors. Let us know you're coming to Waltham and/or Hartford!

NE/SAE in the Neighborhood are one- to three-hour events that will take place at various locations throughout New England. Our March event will add a one-hour educational component. Our discussion will focus on the issues that most concern all members of the association community.

These short get-togethers are a great opportunity for networking and open discussions of current association issues. Do you have a concern that is unique to your state? NE/SAE in the Neighborhood events will give you an opportunity to discuss local issues with other association professionals. Or, just come and meet fellow NE/SAE members in person!

NE/SAE in the Neighborhood events are open to NE/SAE members and nonmembers. Industry Partners or suppliers of goods/services to the association community are also welcome to attend. Bring your entire association staff to take a quick break for professional enrichment!

Have a question about the NE/SAE in the Neighborhood series, or interested in hosting a future date in your city? Please contact office@nesae.org.

NE/SAE is grateful to our Annual Partners who generously support the programs and services we provide throughout the year.

Join us for a Think Tank discussion
on managing an overzealous committee.

No matter what organization or industry we serve, we've all dealt with the committee that gets ahead of itself or tries to run away with organization schedules or resources. How can we redirect that energy to better benefit the organization's mission and strategic goals?

NE/SAE Think Tanks are virtual opportunities for members to discuss timely topics, assess emerging trends, and share challenges and success stories with one another. Think Tanks are held on the last Tuesday of each month for one hour.

Registration is free for NE/SAE members, but pre-registration is required. Learn more about NE/SAE Think Tank discussions.

After each Think Tank, NE/SAE creates a resource based on the key takeaways from our group discussion. Access the resources from our recent Think Tanks.

Mentoring programs vary in terms of scope and goals and come with unique challenges, but no matter what form they take, they prove beneficial to organizations, as well as mentors and mentees.

When it comes to association mentoring programs, one size does not fit all.

Members of ASAE’s Marketing Professionals Advisory Council’s mentoring subcommittee interviewed seven association leaders about their mentoring programs. Interviewees came from different industries, worked on both new and well-established mentoring efforts, and had programs that served 30 to several hundred participants in each cycle. Most programs ranged from six to 12 months in length, but one took a one-and-done approach matching mentors and mentees for a single 30- to 60-minute session. All agreed that challenges aside, the effort is worth it.

It’s no secret that today’s economy is full of uncertainty. From inflation to the increasing expectations of consumers and employees, to the continuously changing digital space, there are a lot of factors that might be currently impacting your association. For some, it might feel like a continuation of the past three years – learning how to adapt, shift priorities, and engage with members in different ways. For others, 2023 might be a year of major growth and expansion. Whatever the case may be, there are opportunities for your association to use this economic uncertainty to sharpen your focus, provide timely value to your members, and do more with less. The best part is that you already have access to a major part of the solution – your data!

Let’s take a look at a few ways you can shift challenges into opportunities, keep your association top of mind, and maintain your revenue stream in 2023.

This year, 87% of online traffic is expected to be 100% video, Matt Carpenter, story architect at Beard & Bowler, said. But a video doesn’t need to be extremely polished and professional to get attention and make an impact.

Carpenter and Jason Ellinger, producer and director at Beard & Bowler, led yesterday’s session, “You Need Video! This Is How.” at The 2023 Nonprofit Marketing Summit from Community Boost. There, they shared why nonprofits need to start telling stories with video now — and how to do it with limited resources.
