NYSAFC is bringing its successful "Flashover" Hands-On Training program on the road! This popular program, previously conducted only during the association’s Annual Conference, is now being offered regionally through the use of a mobile flashover unit beginning in the fall of 2012.
The intent of NYSAFC’s "Flashover" Hands-On Training program is to educate students on fire behavior and allow them to actually experience fire development from the incipient stage, through the free burning stage, all the way to flashover. In an intense live fire environment, students will learn to identify the signs of the event before they become part of a flashover. NYSAFC’s program is staffed by America’s most seasoned instructors, with years of experience teaching with a simulator. The program includes a comprehensive pre-burn lecture, in addition to the hands-on training.
The advantage of NYSAFC's Regional Hands-On Training program is to reduce some of the expenses that fire districts and municipalities are struggling with in today’s economy. This association endeavor is designed to offer more diverse training opportunities right in the backyards of New York’s firefighters, especially those that are challenged by the commitments of everyday life and the expenses that often limit their ability to get this intense, realistic, and much-needed training experience.
Two programs are being held in Corning, N.Y. and Monticello, N.Y. during October and November. Click here to learn more, including how to register for the flashover training opportunities in November.
Interested in bringing the program to your area? Regional Hands-On Training will be available for local fire departments, districts, and counties in early 2013. Click here to e-mail Sue Revoir or contact the NYSAFC office at (800) 676-FIRE to learn more.
