Since the last issue of The NYSAFC Bugle, Governor Andrew Cuomo has taken the following actions impacting the emergency services.

Signed into Law:

S337A – Allows volunteer fire companies to obtain restitution if they have expended funds for the purpose of restoration, rehabilitation, or clean-up of the site of an arson.

S933A – Prohibits the retail sale, distribution, or offer to sell at retail to any person in the state, novelty lighters.

Vetoed:

S4379 – Exempts proceeds from service award programs for volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers from personal income taxes.
