NYSAFC is pleased to announce that the Cookin’ in the House: Chili Challenge will return to the Annual Conference & FIRE Expo in 2016! All proceeds raised from this chili cook-off will benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF). Seven teams competed in last year’s event, which raised $1,500 for the NFFF. Everett Erichsen of the Highland Fire District was named the 2015 "Chili Challenge Champion."
The Cookin' in the House: Chili Challenge will be held during the 110th Annual Conference & FIRE 2016 Expo on Friday, June 17, 2016, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Cypress Rooms of the Turning Stone Resort, Verona, NY.
All attendees and exhibitors are invited to attend or participate! Come sample tasty chili recipes from some of the state’s best fire house chefs, cast your vote for your favorite chili, network with conference attendees, and support a good cause! Or take the Chili Challenge and compete!
Tickets are $5 per person to enter the event and sample all chili entries. All funds raised will benefit the NFFF. Tickets will be available at the NYSAFC booth (#3163) during FIRE 2016 exhibit hours and at the door.
Interested in competing? Sign up by June 3! One trophy will be awarded in the following categories: Chili Challenge Champion (Best Overall Chili), Most Creative Chili, People’s Choice Chili, and Best Station Display. All chefs will receive a gift for competing and special prizes will be presented to the top competitors.
Guest judges will include renowned fire house chefs Robert Painter (FDNY Ladder 39 and NYSAFC Hands-On Training instructor) and John Sierp (FDNY Ladder 169). They’ve competed on the TV shows "Chopped" and "The Rachael Ray Show."
