NYSAFC and ACSIQ Sign Agreement of Cooperation

The New York State Association of Fire Chiefs (NYSAFC) and Association des chefs en sécurité incendie du Québec (ACSIQ – Quebec Association of Fire Chiefs) signed an agreement of mutual cooperation during the General Session of the NYSAFC 112th Annual Conference & FIRE 2018 Expo on June 14, 2018, at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, NY.
NYSAFC Executive Director Jerry DeLuca and ACSIQ Director General Luc de la Durantaye executed the agreement between the two associations in an effort to ensure that the highest level of fire service is provided across the state and provincial borders. The associations, which have been meeting for several months, agreed to work cooperatively to resolve issues and concerns impacting the fire service in the state of New York and the province of Quebec.
NYSAFC and ACSIQ will seek to reach an understanding of policies, procedures, and statutes related to issues that include:

- Cross-border mutual aid.
- Insurance coverage for injuries to firefighters.
- Insurance coverage for damage to apparatus and equipment.
- Equivalency of training for firefighters, officers, and chiefs.
