Justice Department Releases Fentanyl Safety Video
In response to escalating concerns about first responder exposures to fentanyl and fentanyl analogues, the U.S. Department of Justice released a training video "Fentenyl: The Real Deal." The video is a companion to previously released recommendations for first responders who may potentially be exposed to fentanyl in the course of their duties. Learn more about these materials here.
IAFC Position Opposes Requiring College Degrees for Medics
The IAFC released a position statement opposing the recent movement to require a college degree to graduate from a paramedic program. While the IAFC encourages higher education and recommends college degrees for fire service leaders, the push to mandate a degree in order to graduate from a paramedic program would eliminate over 100 fire service and military based paramedic programs, as well as severely curtail the supply of volunteer paramedics essential to meeting the EMS needs of the U.S. See the position statement here.
