Proposed Revisions to Ambulance Equipment Published
The Safety Committee of the New York State EMS Council (SEMSCO), after years of wrangling, has published a draft revision to Parts 800.24 (Equipment Requirements for Ambulance) and 800.26 (Equipment Requirements for Emergency Ambulance Service Vehicles). The document will need to be translated by the Division of Legal Affairs and proceed through the state regulatory process for public comment, but a draft is available here. This promises to excuse you permanently from having to maintain a stash of sanitary napkins and padded board splints on your ambulance.
CCT to Paramedic Bridge Program
The CCT Bridge Program at Northwell Health continues to graduate paramedics. Learn more here. There was some discussion at the January 2021 SEMAC/SEMSCO meetings on when the CCT program might sunset. No end date was set in the process of sunsetting CCT courses, but Bureau of EMS Director Ryan Greenberg speculated that a final sunset needs to be determined and would likely be within 10 years’ time.
