Joint Statement on Lights and Siren Use
In one of the largest collaborative efforts to date, 13 national and international associations issued a "Joint Statement on Lights & Siren Vehicle Operations on Emergency Medical Services Responses" on February 14, 2022. The statement lays out basic principles on when and why use of lights and sirens is appropriate, as well as when lights and sirens are not appropriate. The full paper can be viewed here.

Struck By Vehicle Incident Reporting Tool Launched
The second most common cause of death among firefighters and emergency responders is transportation incidents. To better track and understand the nature of these incidents, the Emergency Responder Safety Institute (ERSI) recently launched a nationwide platform to collect information directly from responders. In cases where responders or equipment are struck by a vehicle while operating at a scene, a report can be submitted using any type of device here.
