EMS Workforce Report Published
The Department of Health has finally published a report documenting EMS agency closures, EMS salaries, declining numbers of EMS workers, and a survey of EMS providers about their future plans. The entire report – “2024 Update On the EMS Workforce Shortage: Where Are the Emergency Responders?” – can be downloaded here.
When the Wait Gets Ridiculous
Did you know that the NYS Department of Health has a portal for reporting excessive wait times (the time to turn over a patient after arrival at an ED)? If your wait time is excessive, consider reporting it. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services suggests that wait times exceeding 30 minutes should be considered excessive, in case you are looking for a reference.
