Public Education Training at FIRE 2011
The NYSAFC Public Education Committee is pleased to announce a FREE training workshop for public safety educators – "Successful Smoke Alarm Projects: What You Need to Know." NYSAFC received funding from the U.S. Fire Administration to provide smoke alarms to local fire departments for use in community projects. All fire departments represented at this training will be eligible to receive a free supply of smoke alarms that must be installed during the summer of 2011.
This is a great opportunity for fire departments and safety educators to learn the latest about conducting successful smoke alarm projects. This program is free but class size is limited. Registrants will also receive three One Day Passes for the FIRE 2011 expo (valid for entry to exhibits only, June 16-18, 2011). You must register in advance to participate in this program. Click here to download a program pre-registration form. If you have any questions, e-mail Sue Syzdek.
Codes Training at FIRE 2011
Once again, the NYSAFC Codes Committee will be hosting codes training at the NYSAFC Conference. This year’s program will include: "Chapter 17 Structural Tests & Special Inspections" with Senior Building Construction Engineer Brian Tollisen, P.E. of the NYS Department of State Division of Code Enforcement & Administration, "Commercial Hood & Grease Ducts" with Bob Guenther of the International Code Council, and "Fire Safety During Construction & Demolition" with President Christopher J. Dunn, CFPS of Finger Lakes Risk Control, Inc.
The registration fee for the program is $91.00 per person. This includes a continental breakfast, lunch, break refreshments, and a training book, plus three One Day Passes for the FIRE 2011 expo (valid for entry to exhibits only, June 16-18, 2011). You must be pre-registered for this program by June 1, 2011. Click here to download a pre-registration form. If you have any questions on the codes training, e-mail NYSAFC Codes Committee Chairman Steve Myers.
