Chief Fred W. Singer Fire Educator of the Year Award
This award is presented annually by NYSAFC in memory of Past President Fred Singer, a 40-year fire service veteran who was a highly regarded teacher and champion of fire safety and firefighter training in New York state. This award recognizes outstanding efforts in fire service training. Individuals that are fire service instructors providing training within New York state are eligible for the award. Nomination forms must be postmarked by March 11, 2011.
James W. Wright Public Education Award
Do you offer a unique public education program in New York state? Be recognized for your efforts and share your program with your peers. Any individual firefighter, EMT, or emergency services personnel or emergency service department/organization/association that offers public education programs in New York state are eligible for this award, which recognizes outstanding fire/injury prevention and safety programs. The award winning program will be showcased during the Public Education Conference at the New York State Fire Academy, where it will be shared with emergency service providers from across New York. Winners will receive accommodations (registration, one room, and meals) for the weekend program to be held this spring. This award was renamed in 2009 in memory of longtime Pub Ed Committee Chairman Jim Wright in recognition of his years of dedication and commitment to fire prevention and life safety. Nomination forms must be postmarked by March 11, 2011.
NYSAFC Fire Chief of the Year Awards
Each year the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs officers recognize two association members for demonstration of exemplary leadership that has not only benefited an individual fire department, but also the emergency services of New York state, with the Career Fire Chief and Volunteer Fire Chief of the Year Awards. Honorees are chosen each year based upon their exemplary leadership, innovation, professional development, integrity, service to the public, and contributions to the fire service as a whole. Nomination forms/packages must be postmarked by April 8, 2011.
