Article 30 Changes Kiboshed, For Now

Sweeping changes to Article 30 of the Public Health Law that would dramatically restructure EMS oversight in New York state were dropped from the final version of the Governor's 2012-2013 Budget. Representatives from regional councils, program agencies, and the New York State EMS Coalition, representing street level provider associations, made it clear to the Legislature that the proposed changes needed major tweaks. No word on whether stand-alone legislation will attempt similar restructuring. NYSAFC is working closely with legislators, the Governor's office and the Department of Health to assure input from our members is heard.
