Several years ago NYSAFC expanded its Haz-Mat Committee and created the Special Operations Committee. This move recognized the various levels of specialized technical rescue that fire departments provide across New York state. In an effort to expand our outreach training in this area, and with the help of some outstanding committee members, NYSAFC decided to offer a Water Rescue Conference.
Our intention was to offer this program in September 2012. After working with other organizations across the state and country, it became clear that this is a program in high demand, and also a program that couldn't be achieved in such a tight time frame. In an effort to ensure the best program possible, NYSAFC has decided to delay the fall 2012 Water Rescue Conference until September 2013. The good news is that we have a very strong program already lined up.
