NYSAFC Seeks Executive Director

The New York State Association of Fire Chiefs (NYSAFC) is a not for profit, service oriented organization with 12,000 members from 37 states and three countries including Canada and Bermuda. Members include individuals from all ranks and all branches of the fire service; career, volunteer, industrial, and military, in addition to personnel from the emergency medical services field and individuals who promote fire and injury prevention and safety in the public sector. NYSAFC is seeking a dynamic and innovative executive director to lead the association. He/she reports and is accountable to the president of the board and board of directors. The executive director provides strategic leadership and manages the operations, finances and programs of NYSAFC. He/she advances initiatives of the board of directors in representing the needs of fire chiefs and fire professionals throughout the organization, taking a broad strategic role in the organization and managing day-to-day activities. The selected candidate must achieve economical and productive performance and constructive membership and financial growth, through effective management, leadership, planning and programming. All responsibilities should be carried out in accordance with the direction of the board and within the established guidelines of the organization’s mission, practices and policies.

Qualifications for the Position:
Bachelor’s degree in public administration or management and/or seven to ten years of demonstrated and successful nonprofit management experience preferred. Knowledge of and/or experience in fire service helpful. Proven administrative, fiscal management and technology management required. Excellent communications skills required, including verbal and written. Must have the ability to develop and implement new programs. Must be willing to travel. Compensation range $80-$95K.
