Past Chief George Rossi Honored by Perth Volunteer Fire Company for 50 Years Service

Past Fire Chief George Rossi was honored at the monthly meeting of the Perth Volunteer Fire Company for 50 years of dedicated service to the company and the community. A visibly moved Rossi humbly thanked the large group in attendance.

Rossi joined the Perth Fire Company on August 12, 1963, and has served as lieutenant, captain, assistant chief, and chief of the department for 11 years. He also served as president and on the board of directors.

"I recall when I joined; George was always at the fire house and had a smile on his face," said Perth Fire Chief Peter Watrobski. "George is a great mentor, leader, and friend," according to Past Chief John Lesniewski, who has served under Rossi in various capacities.

Fulton County Fire Coordinator Allan Polmateer presented Rossi with a certificate of appreciation for 50 years of service to the community. Rossi also was very active with the Fulton County Fire Investigation Team. "No matter what time of the day – George was there," said Polmateer.

Rossi was joined by his wife Bretta, son Jamie, and grandson Anthony after the fire company presented him with a cake. The Perth Fire Company presented Rossi with a plaque for 50 years of service to the community.
