2013 Regional Hands-On Training – Flashover Program Concludes in Ulster County
NYSAFC's Regional Hands-On Training – Flashover program wrapped-up for the year in Ulster County on the snowy weekend of December 14-15, 2013.
Through the Regional Hands-On Training program, NYSAFC was able to bring flashover training to 12 counties throughout New York state during the past year. Over 1,100 students participated in this vital training, held so far in Albany, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Dutchess, Erie, Madison, Monroe, Onondaga, Schuyler, Steuben, Sullivan, and Yates Counties. Hands-On Training programs were held over the course of 22 weekends.
Programs included an hour long lecture, then training in a flashover simulator with some of the nation's most seasoned fire instructors. Students were able to experience fire development from the incipient stage all the way to flashover, learning to identify the signs of the event before becoming part of a flashover.
Flashover training will continue to be offered at the association's Annual Conference & FIRE Expo at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y. Sign up now to participate in Hands-On Training at FIRE 2014, which will be held June 11-14 (training will be held Thursday through Saturday).
