NYSAFC Mourns the Loss of Association Past President Clinton L. Soemann
NYSAFC is saddened to announce the loss of Chief Clinton L. Soemann, who passed away on August 16, 2014. He served as president of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs from 1999-2000.
Clint Soemann was a 37-year life member of the Evans Center Volunteer Fire Company in Erie County. He served as chief of the department from 1986-1987, as well as president for many years. Other positions with Evans Center included treasurer, director, first aid lieutenant and captain, fire lieutenant and captain, and assistant chief.
Soemann joined NYSAFC in 1980 and was a life member. He served as a regional representative for Erie County, as a member and chairman of both the EMS and Nominations & Elections Committees, and as a member of the former Recruitment & Retention Committee. Soemann served on the board of directors from 1992-2001.
Soemann was a member of the Erie County Fire Chiefs Mutual Aid Organization, past secretary of the Erie County Fire Advisory Board, past chairman of the Wyoming – Erie EMS Council, past secretary/treasurer of the Angola Fire Chiefs Council, life member of both the Western New York Volunteer Fireman’s Association and Southwestern Association of Volunteer Firefighters, and past director of the Western Regional EMS Committee.
He retired from the United States Navy after 37 years of combined active and reserve duty.
