NYSAFC Hosts Water Rescue Conference
Students from across New York state participated in NYSAFC’s 2014 Water Rescue Conference, which was held September 20-21, 2014, in Buffalo, N.Y.
The two-day event featured lectures at the Embassy Suites Buffalo on Saturday, followed by hands-on training evolutions in the water at Canalside Buffalo, a recreational area in downtown Buffalo, on Sunday.
Lectures included "Teamwork & Safety During Water Recovery Operations" with Petty Officer First Class Josh Fennell (Operation Petty Officer Station Buffalo, U.S. Coast Guard), "Drowning Care for the Prehospital Care Provider" with Director of Education Sean Hulsman (Twin City Ambulance), and "Water Rescue! Forum on Tactics & Considerations with Hands-On Evolutions" with Chief Jeffrey Dygert (Auburn Fire Department) and Technical/Tactical Rescue Instructor Bradley Vrooman (NYS OFPC & National Guard).
