DOH Notifies Hospitals of Spinal Protocol Change

To assist EMS agencies across New York with a smoother transition to the new Spinal Motion Restriction protocol, DOH sent a letter to every hospital in New York state advising them of the new protocol. You may want a few copies of the document to carry in your ambulance clipboards. Not that you ever run into a nurse or physician who thinks you should have used one of those archaic backboards. The document can be accessed on the Bureau website by downloading document T8 "Letter to Emergency Departments" here.

2016 EMS Memorial Ceremony Set

The 2016 New York State EMS Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2016, starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, NY. The names of six individuals lost in the line of duty will be added to the Memorial this year; four are 9/11 related, reminding us of the losses we continue to suffer from the attack on our nation. Consider honoring your fallen brothers and sisters by sending an ambulance and some members. Details will be updated on the Bureau website here.
