Public Employer Risk Management Association, Inc. (PERMA), in partnership with the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs (NYSAFC), is pleased to announce funding opportunities for members through the Firefighter Risk Reduction MiniGrant Program. A request for applications (RFAs) was issued on January 21 with monies to be awarded for new gear washers and dryers, which remove carcinogens from turnout gear while maintaining gear durability.
The purpose of this program is to financially assist members in obtaining equipment that will help reduce injury and illness within their agencies.
The open grant period will be from January 21 to March 1, 2020. To be eligible, applicants must be members of both NYSAFC (Department Members only) and PERMA. PERMA members may access the online application through the PERMA website using their member login credentials. Instructions for this grant program are available upon login. Click here to apply now or download the application here. Submissions are due by March 1, 2020. Please contact NYSAFC via email with questions about Department Member status.
PERMA and NYSAFC will conduct ongoing evaluations of agencies awarded equipment to determine the equipment's effectiveness in preventing illness and injury. Applicants selected for funding will be notified by PERMA around May 1, 2020. Any purchases made prior to the award date will not be eligible for reimbursement.
All questions regarding this RFA and the PERMA Firefighter Risk Reduction MiniGrant Program should be directed to Public Safety Risk Management Specialist Pete Frisoni of PERMA via email.
