NHTSA Change Notices on Scopes of Practice
A change notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) makes an emergency revision to the scopes of practice of EMTs, AEMTs, and paramedics. It adds IM medication administration to the scope of practice of EMTs and adds immunization during a public health emergency to the scopes of practice of EMTs, advanced EMTs, and paramedics. NYS DOH has refused to allow EMTs to provide immunizations without direct supervision until now. No word if State DOH plans to adopt the federal changes. Download the federal notice here.
NYS Vital Signs EMS Conference
The annual NYS EMS Vital Signs Conference, which succumbed to COVID last year, will happen this November 11-14 in Saratoga Springs. Live conference seats are extremely limited, but fear not. If you can't be there in person, a virtual option will be offered. Housing registration is now open and details will continue to be updated here.
