The Public Employer Risk Management Association (PERMA) and NYSAFC have announced the winners of the 2022 Firefighter Risk Reduction MiniGrant Program. The goal of this program is to financially assist members in obtaining equipment that will help reduce injury and illness within their agencies.
This year, monies were awarded to five members of both PERMA and NYSAFC (Department Members only) to acquire new gear washers and dryers, which remove carcinogens from turnout gear while maintaining gear durability. Since the program's inception, PERMA has provided more than $120,000 in equipment to members across 27 departments.
The 2022 recipients are:
• Claverack Fire District (A.B. Shaw Fire Company) – Columbia County
• Cortlandville Fire District – Cortland County
• Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department – Westchester County
• Greenville Fire District – Westchester County
• Westmere Fire District – Albany County
Congratulations to these agencies, and thank you to all who took time to submit an application! NYSAFC gratefully acknowledges PERMA for their continued commitment to firefighter health, wellness, and safety.
Questions regarding the program can be directed to Public Safety Risk Management Specialist Pete Frisoni of PERMA via email.
