Arthur Lewis, who served as chief of the Freeport Fire Department in Nassau County from 1976-1977, passed away on July 22, 2017. He led NYSAFC as president from 2000-2001.

Henry A. Campbell, chairman of the NYSAFC Public Relations & Information Committee and contributor to CHIEFHAC’s Corner in The NYSAFC Bugle, passed away on July 14, 2017. He served as chief of the Mount Vernon Fire Department in Westchester County from 1986-1996.

Retired Chief Frank Stefanelli of the Jamestown Fire Department led NYSAFC as president from 1986-1987 and served as deputy New York state fire administrator from 1989-1995.

Congratulations to NYSAFC 1st Vice President Julius Leone, who will retire as director of emergency services for Chautauqua County in October 2017.

NYSAFC Executive Director Jerry DeLuca and Judy Schmitz, who retired from the association staff in June after 11 years of service.

New database and association management system to debut on August 1, 2017.

With summer weather comes more outside activities, like grilling. July is the peak month for grill fires. Caution is needed around any open flames.
