Seminar lecturers include Thomas Richardson, John Norman, John Salka, and Mike Dugan of the FDNY, plus many more. Certified EMS providers can earn CEUs for attending designated seminars. Tickets can now be purchased in advance online through Ticketmaster (service fee applies). Tickets will also be available at the door. Eight Hands-On Training courses will be delivered at the Syracuse Fire Department Training Center during the NYSAFC 116th Annual Conference & FIRE 2022 Expo. HOT registration also includes Annual Conference & FIRE Expo Full Term registration, which allows entry to classes and exhibits. Hands-On Training runs from Thursday, June 16 through Saturday, June 18. Courses include "Advanced Thermal Imaging Camera Ops," "Advanced Vehicle Extrication," "Aggressive Interior Fire Attack," "Fire Behavior On the Inside," "First-In Officers’ Responsibilities," "Hoarder Fires," "Truck Company Essentials: The Tasks That Must Get Done," and "Truck Company: Saw Work and Roof Ops."

The Chief Neil McNeight Hands-On Training Award, established by the Chautauqua County & Monroe County Fire Chiefs Hospitality Committee, funds the recipient's enrollment in Hands-On Training at the Annual Conference & FIRE Expo in Syracuse. The award includes hotel accommodations, a meal stipend, plus Full Term Registration for the conference allowing entry to classes and exhibits. The award program is open to NYSAFC Individual and Department Members.

12 Regional Hands-On Training programs are currently scheduled for 2022. Registration is open for "Beyond the Basics" in Erie, Fulton, Saratoga, and Ulster Counties; "Fire Behavior On the Inside" in Albany, Erie (two sites), and Orange Counties; and "Flashover" in Erie, Genesee, Oneida, and Onondaga Counties. New locations are added to the training calendar throughout the year. Agencies can use the Host Request Forms to schedule a course locally.

There’s a push to change the law in New York so that volunteer fire departments are allowed to bill patients for the emergency care they give to those patients on the way to the hospital.
