Past Chief James J. Kavanaugh passed away on May 8, 2023. He led the association as president from 1988-1989. A longtime member of the Erie County fire service, Kavanaugh was a life member of the East Seneca Fire Company, which he led as chief from 1971-1974, and the Vigilant Fire Company.
