Registration is now open for Codes Training, held in conjunction with the 112th Annual Conference & FIRE 2018 Expo at the Turning Stone Resort. This year, Codes Training has been expanded to two days, June 13 and 14. Students can complete training on one or both days and earn in-service codes hours.

Members of the New York State Fire Service Alliance, including representatives from NYSAFC, traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Congressional Fire Services Institute 30th Annual National Fire & Emergency Services Symposium & Dinner. A fatal fire at Trump Tower earlier this month was caused by improper use of multiple power strips. The 50th floor apartment had no working smoke alarms or fire sprinklers. Completed in 1983, the building was constructed prior to the passage of a New York City law requiring sprinklers in new residential buildings with four or more units. Following the fire, NYSAFC Executive Director Jerry DeLuca appeared on "Good Morning America" to discuss the benefits of home fire sprinklers.
