NYSAFC's two-day leadership development program for current and aspiring company officers will be held in Erie (January 20-21), Fulton (March 10-11), and Monroe (February 17-18) Counties. Lecturers include Training Chief William Hanrahan (Orchard Park F.D.) & Deputy Chief (Ret.) Paul Melfi (City of Olean F.D.), Chief (Ret.) Jeff Dygert (City of Auburn Fire Department), and Lieutenant Tim Klett (FDNY).

Applications are now being accepted for the NYSAFC Scholarship Program and the Chief Neil McNeight Hands-On Training Award. Nominations are being accepted for the Chief Fred Singer Fire Educator of the Year Award, James Wright Public Education Award, and New York State Fire Chief of the Year Awards. The deadline for submitting required materials is April 1, 2023.

Registration is open for Hands-On Training at the NYSAFC 117th Annual Conference & FIRE 2023 Expo! HOT will be delivered from Wednesday, June 14 – Friday, June 16 at the Syracuse Fire Department Training Center. Seven courses led by some of the nation’s most knowledgeable and experienced instructors will be available: "Advanced Thermal Imaging Camera Ops," "Advanced Vehicle Extrication," "Aggressive Interior Fire Attack," "Fire Behavior On the Inside," "First-In Officers’ Responsibilities," "Hoarder Fires," and "Truck Company Essentials."

10 Regional Hands-On Training programs are currently scheduled for 2023 – "Beyond the Basics" in Monroe County, "Fire Behavior On the Inside" in Herkimer, Jefferson, and Rockland Counties, and "Flashover" in Erie, Essex, Jefferson, Orange, Orleans, and Otsego Counties. New locations are added to the training calendar throughout the year. Agencies can use the Host Request Forms to schedule a course locally. Training is scheduled on weekends based on the availability of NYSAFC's mobile training units.

Program & Event Updates
NYSAFC and Islip Town Fire/EMS Museum Educational Center have partnered to host this expo and educational event at Nassau Coliseum from February 3-5, 2023. Tickets are $20 per person, per day (includes expo and seminars). Parking is free! Advance tickets are available online through Ticketmaster (credit card only - service fees will be applied). Tickets can be purchased at the door (cash, credit card, and voucher accepted). Education programs and participating vendors will be announced soon!
