Christman's Smith Promoted to Executive Vice PresidentPrint this Article | Send to Colleague Jay H. Smith, LEED AP was recently promoted to the position of executive vice president for Christman, an AGC member in Georgia, Michigan and the Greater Washington DC area. In this key role, he will provide increasingly advanced leadership and responsibility for the construction operations necessary to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and cost control for the firm's many construction projects in progress throughout Michigan and the Midwest, mid-Atlantic/Washington, DC region and southeast United States. He will also continue to serve as principal in charge of individual projects for a select number of the company's longest-term clients."I'm happy to congratulate Jay on this well-earned recognition of the unique and valuable role he plays in providing leadership and oversight to our field operations,"said Steve Roznowski, Christman chief executive officer. Smith has a total of 36 years of experience in construction, and joined Christman in 1984 as a project engineer. He was promoted to project manager in 1985, to vice president in 1990, and to senior vice president in 1997. He was also appointed to the company's board of directors in 1993. He has a BS in Industrial Management and Supervision from Central Michigan University, and is a LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design) accredited professional through the U.S. Green Building Council.
