On Wednesday, May 13, 2015, former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania's Rich Barcaskey called on federal lawmakers to increase investment in transportation. The event is part of a series of appearances to promote the launch of AGC of America's #DriveBetterRoads campaign which encourages people to take photos of bad traffic, aging bridges, and poor road conditions and share them through social media platforms. Construction projects like the refurbishment of the Liberty Bridge, where the media event took place, will be in jeopardy unless more money is authorized. The temporary extension of transportation funding is set to expire on May 31. In addition to the social media campaign, AGC has created a website that allows people to contact their lawmakers.
