AGC Pushes for Infrastructure Funding During Honolulu Media EventPrint this Article | Send to Colleague AGC of America worked with the General Contractors Association of Hawaii to hold a June 1 media event in Honolulu to push for more investments in America's aging infrastructure. During the event, AGC of America announced that the Honolulu metro areas was the nation's third fastest-growing construction jobs market, but warned that growth could be undermined by federal gridlock in acting on key infrastructure bills. Specifically, AGC of America called on Congress to pass Federal Aviation and Water Resources Development bills and to find a long-term way to pay for highway and transit investments. Clay Asato, president of the General Contractors Association of Hawaii, also called on state and local officials to continue investing in local infrastructure projects, including the city's new light rail line which is spurring new transit oriented development projects. The event was covered by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, Pacific Business News and all the local television news stations. |
