Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania (CAWP) presented a check for $20,000.00 to Operation Once in a Lifetime on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, in conjunction with the CAWP / H2AP annual dinner.
Nearly 900 attendees enjoyed the evening’s entertainment and dinner at the Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh. During the opening remarks, CAWP President Bob Miner discussed the CAWP Constructing Our Community Program.
"This program is designed to enable CAWP members the opportunity to give back to the communities in which we work by raising funds for the charity of the current CAWP president’s choice," said Miner. "Operation Once in a Lifetime is inspiring in its scope and I’m proud to announce that it is the CAWP Constructing Our Community Program charity for 2012 – 2013."
Following a video presentation depicting the organization’s efforts, Miner presented a $20,000.00 donation on behalf of CAWP and H2AP to Sgt. Patrick Sowers, founder of Operation Once in a Lifetime.
"The hardest thing for us is when we have to say no to a request for help. This donation will go a long way to help service men and women in need," said Sowers. "Thank you for your support of Operation Once in a Lifetime."
Operation Once in a Lifetime’s mission is to make the dreams of U.S. soldiers and their families come true by providing free financial and morale support to U.S Service members, their families and veterans regardless of rank, deployment, physical condition or branch of service. You serve, you qualify.
CAWP is a trade association representing over 200 heavy, highway, railroad, and utility construction and construction-related companies in the 33 counties of western Pennsylvania. For the past 78 years, CAWP has been assisting contractors collectively by addressing issues important to them, such as adequate transportation funding and competitive labor markets.
The CAWP Constructing Our Community Program was developed to allow CAWP member companies and their employees, who build the infrastructure in communities, the opportunity to give back to the people in the communities in which they serve. The program will raise funds for donation to charitable causes chosen by the current association president.
