Weifield Group Contracting LLC, an AGC of Colorado Building Chapter member, is proud to announce that its own James "Jim" Dent, has been appointed to the Colorado State Electrical Board. The State Electrical Board licenses, registers, and regulates electricians, apprentices, and electrical contractors. They conduct regular inspections of the installations that they regulate, and review special requests for exceptions to the code. The board’s mission is to protect the health of the public by enforcing the state electrical statutes. All members serve for three-year terms. The board is made up of nine professional and public members that are appointed by the governor.
Jim carries a Master Electrician’s License and has over 38 years of experience in the electrical industry. He is responsible for all aspects of design, estimating, scheduling, negotiating, and coordination for the entire preconstruction phase at Weifield Group Contracting. He is an expert on National Electrical Code having taught the NEC as part of the curriculum at the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Apprenticeship Program. Jim was an instructor at IEC for 10 consecutive years and also served as chairperson of the Apprentice and Training Committee for 10 years. Currently, Jim is an active member in United Stated Green Building Council (USGBC), and is the current secretary for the Design Build Institute of America’s (DBIA) Regional Board of Directors.
