AGCVA Appoints New CEO
The Associated General Contractors of Virginia (AGCVA) is pleased to announce the selection of Gordon N. Dixon as chief executive officer, succeeding current CEO Steven Vermillion who is retiring.
Dixon most recently served as Vice President of a large association management company which specialized in leading trade associations focused on event management, procurement, real estate and finance. He also was Director of the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, overseeing the administrative processes of 17 state regulatory boards. In both roles, Dixon worked on policy and regulatory initiatives before state and federal government that resulted in better transparency and accountability with government agencies and regulants.
"This is a perfect time for AGCVA to select Gordon as our new CEO as we transition into a more complex business environment and navigate ever changing regulations for General Contractors and Subcontractors. He brings a strong background on regulatory and public policy matters that positions business for future needs and has over 20 years’ experience helping trade groups achieve their mission" said Board Chairman, Mike Cagle of MB Contractors in Roanoke. "Today’s environment is full of change for Contractors and Gordon can help advocate for and position AGCVA and its members to better adapt to those changes."
"AGCVA is in a strong position as Virginia looks to ensure a rebounding economy with good construction jobs for our citizens" said Dixon. "AGCVA works well with state and federal agencies to comply with the necessary regulations to keep everyone safe and I am humbled they have chosen to work with me on regulatory, workforce and administrative issues."
The Associated General Contractors of Virginia is the largest organization serving the commercial construction industry in the Commonwealth, providing legislative and regulatory, workforce development, training, safety and networking services since 1924 to more than 600 member firms in the state.
