Two AGC Members Elected to National Academy of Construction
Al Daloisio, Jr. of Railroad Construction (a Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania and Associated Construction Contractors of New Jersey member), and Hank Harris of FMI Corporation (a member of multiple chapters) were inducted Oct. 26 at the NAC Annual Meeting, which was held at the Fairmont Georgetown. The 2017 class includes 28 new inductees. More than 300 leaders were considered for NAC’s rigorous nomination and election process.
Daloisio was noted by the Academy as a tireless and energetic leader with a wide range of experience who is dedicated to helping others in the industry as a guide and mentor. Harris was recognized for his dedicated career in service to the construction industry and is known for mergers and acquisitions expertise and as an author of textbooks on strategic planning and business management practices.
"The new members of the National Academy of Construction, like those before them, have earned the high honor of Academy membership through stellar careers and contributions to the engineering and construction industry," said Wayne Crew, general secretary of NAC. "We recognize them for their career of achievements, and join with them going forward to share our expertise as a service to the nation."
Daloisio joined his family’s business in 1975. He became president in 1983 and has full responsibility for all company operations. He has donated his time and expertise a wide range of industry associations. Harris is chairman of FMI Corporation. He is responsible for the management and governance of the FMI board of directors and consults in matters of organization, strategic planning, and the execution of strategic plans.
The National Academy of Construction, established in 1999, is an organization of industry leaders― construction users, engineers, designers, constructors, consultants, attorneys, sureties, and academics― who have made outstanding contributions to the engineering, construction, and design industries. In addition to being a personal honor, election to the Academy allows members to volunteer their expertise to a variety of organizations, governmental and nongovernmental, for the betterment of the industry as a whole.
