Hensel Phelps was honored last week for building a new playground within the Guadalupe River Park and Gardens that is fully handicap accessible. As a result, the construction group was one of two organizations nationwide to win the top honors of the AGC in the Community Award from the charitable arm of AGC of America, AGC Charities, Inc.

Sitka’s Blue Lake Expansion Project was the most impressive construction project of 2015, AGC of America announced recently. As a result, the project’s contractor, Barnard Construction Company was the Alliant Build America Grand Award winner and best Federal and Heavy Renovation project. This project was one of 23 winners to receive an award and one of nine to receive a Merit Award.

Karl Kreutziger has been promoted to president of C.W. Driver Companies, a premier builder serving the Western United States since 1919 and an AGC of California member. Having served in leadership roles on behalf of C.W. Driver Companies for more than five years, 29-year industry veteran will take over the role of president for Dana Roberts, who will serve as CEO and chairman of the board. In this role, Kreutziger will be responsible for leading the overall direction of C.W. Driver Companies as well as spearheading project teams in the preconstruction and planning phases, and overseeing client relations.

Tocci Building Companies (Tocci), a Boston-area construction management company and AGC of Massachusetts member, announced recently that it has completed construction of the new Rock Chapel Marine headquarters, located at 99 Marginal Street in Chelsea, Massachusetts, on behalf of owner Eastern Salt Company. The former 13 million-gallon oil tank farm site has been transformed into a two-story, high-end office facility for Rock Chapel Marine.

The Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) received a facelift earlier this year when executives from Turner Construction Company, a member of multiple AGC chapters, converged on the ACFB to make a difference. The 115 executives from around the world were in Atlanta for their annual meeting. While visiting, they gave back and worked on Feb. 3 to paint offices, set handrails, and work in the community garden. The volunteers also stocked shelves and packaged food for delivery. The employees packaged a total of 42,752 pounds of food equaling 34,000 meals.
