Association Head Invited into Honorary Society Based on AGC's Work Advancing the Sector

Sandherr was inducted into the prestigious National Academy of Construction on
Oct. 26. Sandherr was
invited to join the select group as a recognition for the many steps the
association has taken to advance the interests of the construction industry.
The National Academy of Construction’s mission is to identify and elect leaders
from business, government, academia and connected professions who have made
significant contributions to the construction industry, to recognize and honor
them and for the members as a whole to provide a unique perspective and
services to issues of critical importance.

The House and Senate are working on different tax reform packages. AGC created a chart comparing key sections of each bill. The biggest tax-related concern is how tax reform treats pass-through businesses. The bills each take a different approach at taxing pass throughs and are granting a lot more tax relief to C corporations. We are working hard to get improvements for pass-through entities and have made some progress.

Al Daloisio, Jr. of Railroad Construction (a Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania and Associated Construction Contractors of New Jersey member), and Hank Harris of FMI Corporation (a member of multiple chapters) were inducted Oct. 26 at the NAC Annual Meeting, which was held at the Fairmont Georgetown. The 2017 class includes 28 new inductees. More than 300 leaders were considered for NAC’s rigorous nomination and election process.

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., a member of multiple AGC chapters, recently broke ground for a new aquarium at St. Louis Union Station in downtown St. Louis. The announcement was made by Lodging Hospitality Management (LHM), which owns Union Station. St. Louis-based PGAV Destinations will be the designer.

Tibbetts Engineering Corp. was founded in 1952 and provides construction materials testing, construction administration, construction inspection, and geotechnical engineering services to clients in southern New England. TEC operates two offices, in New Bedford and Taunton, which will be consolidated into the Taunton location.
