Advocacy
AGC chapters and members are using the August recess to meet with and send advocacy correspondence to their House members urging them to follow the lead of the Senate and complete action on a six-year highway and transit bill when they return in September. Nothing has more impact on elected officials than meeting face to face with constituents. If you have not yet done so please contact your representative’s office and set up a meeting. Site visits, meetings at contractor offices and meetings at chapter offices are all very effective. Resources to help you schedule a meeting can be found on the Hardhats for Highway "Meet with Congress" page.

Chapter News
The AGC Oregon-Columbia Chapter and SAIF Corporation announced recently a $7,966,561 retrospective return for the 661 companies who participated in the AGC/SAIF group workers’ compensation program during 2013–2014. This represents a 26.6 percent return of paid premiums during the policy year. When combined with the phenomenal 14 percent upfront premium discount savings, the total combined savings this year exceeds 40 percent. A retro return has been paid out to AGC members 22 of the past 23 years. These are amazing results, especially in the construction industry, where increasing activity and a shortage of qualified workers present unique challenges.
