Black Partnering Excellence category) and AGC in the Community competitions are now accepting applications. The JLT Build America Awards recognize the nation’s most impressive construction projects ranging across the building, highway and transportation, utility infrastructure, and federal and heavy divisions; as well as those contractors excelling in their partnering and collaborative endeavors. Advocacy
The association, along with leading brands and organizations, is partnering in the TurboVote Challenge to help America reach 80 percent voter turnout.
The construction industry and the millions of workers it employs have much at stake this November. At a time when the industry is rebounding from the longest and deepest slump of any sector, it is especially important to elect local, state and federal leaders willing to work for common-sense solutions to the challenges facing the construction industry and its workforce. In order for our voices to be heard in this ever-changing political landscape, we must register to vote and cast our ballots early or on Election Day.
AGC makes it very easy to receive election reminders via email or text, register to vote and apply for an absentee ballot using the TurboVote tool. Sign up today at agc.turbovote.org. Help make the construction industry's voice heard loudly and clearly in this year's elections! Get registered. Get informed. Vote!

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
At the heart of every construction project is the contract. Therefore, it's valuable to know the differences between the recently released AIA set of standard contract documents and ConsensusDocs 200, a contract document covering a very similar scope, but with some significant differences in how it treats the relationships, rights and responsibilities of the three main parties.

Business Tips
There’s no denying a shortage of skilled workers for the construction industry. As baby boomers retire, mid- to upper-level positions are opening, but contractors are having trouble finding people to replace those openings in addition to entry-level positions. The good news is that there are steps contractors can take to retain, develop and upskill their crews that make a difference in skill level, productivity and the bottom line.
