Avoiding the pitfalls of regulatory restrictions in the construction industry is important to the success of your business. However, regulations can be challenging to understand, poorly advertised and implemented without enough understanding of the industry. Often regulations are implemented and a business owner won’t learn about them until they are audited. Failure to comply can cost you hundreds if not millions of dollars in fines; the kind of fines that can force you to shut your doors and send your company into bankruptcy.

This town hall style meeting will be centered around the regulatory changes that are taking place in the construction industry and how you can protect yourself. "What you don’t know can indeed hurt you and your business". The meeting will allow members to share real life experiences of handling regulatory pitfalls that occurred because they were unaware of construction regulations. This session is hosted and moderated by the Occupational Divisions in order to represent all areas of construction.

Featuring Speaker Haley Barbour

Ticketed Event – SOLD OUT – Please arrive early with your ticket

Haley Barbour, the former governor of Mississippi and former chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association, is one of the top political strategists in the country. Barbour put Mississippi on a new path in job creation, education, health care, and energy. Exclusively represented by Leading Authorities speakers bureau, Barbour speaks on politics, elections, Republican strategy, the economy, job creation, and leadership. Previously Barbour successfully served twice as chairman of the Republican National Committee. In 1994, under Barbour’s chairmanship, Republicans won the greatest midterm majority sweep of the 20th century, winning GOP control of both houses of Congress for the first time in 40 years. After his stint as head of the RGA, POLITICO called Barbour "the most powerful Republican in politics." He also returned to Barbour, Griffith, & Rogers (BGR Group), a lobbying group he helped found in 1991.

Daily Recap

Winners from start to finish.

Thursday was the day to celebrate construction. At the Willis Safety Awards breakfast, AGC and Willis honored those construction companies that have demonstrated excellence in safety and health performance. From the 37 finalists, W.B. Moore Electrical was named the Grand Award winner, or "best of the best."

The Alliant Build America Awards took place at lunch and bestowed awards to projects that have excelled in state-of-the-art achievement, excellence in project management, innovation, superior client service, and more. There were 11 merit award winners and 23 Build America winners. JP Cullen received the Grand Award for its Epic Deep Space project in Verona, Wisconsin.

All award winners were honored again in the evening at the Celebrate Construction Gala, sponsored by Willis and Alliant, where gymnasts poured champagne, local music filled the hall, and dancers entertained the crowd.

Whether your company won an award on Thursday or not, AGC certainly made all their members feel like winners. From start to finish.
