Changes Coming to Federal Acquisition

Currently, the General Services Administration (GSA) manages federal acquisition and awards processes in ten online websites (CFDA, FBO, FPDS-NG, SAM, WDOL, CPARS, FAPIIS, PPIRS, eSRS, FSRS). Starting in November, those sites will be consolidated into one single system. The goal is to provide a central entry point for those who make, receive, and manage federal awards. beta.SAM.gov is the next step in GSA’s effort to streamline and consolidate the federal award system into a single online site.

The original sites will coexist with beta.SAM.gov until they are retired. Once the original System for Award Management (SAM) site has retired, the beta site will be renamed “SAM.gov.” According to the website's FAQs, you will not need to re-register your entity, but you will need to create a new beta.SAM.gov user account. The entity data will migrate to the new site and you will be able to claim your legacy SAM roles using your new beta.SAM.gov account.

GSA is asking for contractors to share comments on the beta version by clicking the “provide feedback” box near the bottom of the beta site’s homepage.
